PLANTATION, Fla. – Alfredo Adrian of Weston birdied the first playoff hole Thursday to earn his first victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour. After Ben Silverman and David Smith missed birdie putts from 30 and 28 feet, respectively, Adrian made his from eight feet for the win. They had tied at four under par 138 on the East course at Jacaranda Golf Club.
In regulation, Adrian shot 71-67 with four birdies each round and four bogeys the first day. Silverman had a pair of 69s while Smith let the first round lead on a 64 slip away, finishing with 74. A native of Venezuela, Adrian earned $2,000 from the $7,800 purse. Silverman and Smith, tied for second among 24 starters, received $1,112.50 apiece. Silverman has two Golfslinger wins, Smith four.
Justin Peters shot 67-73 to finish solo fourth.
Three 18-hole Golfsliner tournaments are scheduled next week: Monday, PGA National, Champion course, Palm Beach Gardens; Tuesday, Club at Emerald Hills, Hollywood; and Thursday, Links @ Madison Green, Royal Palm Beach.
There was $100 in the Day 2 skins pot with 12 skins out worth $8.34 each.
