This year the United States Open is being held at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. The National Championship will be played June 18-21, 2026.
The process of determining the field of 156 players begins with 10,201 entrants and proceeds through two stages of qualifying, local and final. Players who survive qualifying have a chance to play in a Major Championship, with the biggest names in golf.
This years local qualifying was held at 110 sites across the country between April 20th and May 14th. Each local qualifier consists of 18 holes, with several players, determined by the size of the field, advancing to final qualifying.
116 players with MLGT experience will be playing in this years final qualifying.
This year there are 13 final qualifying sites - ten in the United States, one in Canada, one in England and one in Japan. The final qualifiers take place on May 18th, May 25th and June 8th. Played over 36 holes in one day, final qualifying is a test of skill and endurance, with only a handful of available spots at each site. The actual number of qualifying spots is determined by the size and strenth of the field at each location.
