PALM CITY, Fla. – Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, birdied the 18th hole Thursday to earn his 45th win on the Minor League Golf Tour, his third this year. McCarthy had four birdies in a bogey-free round, including a six footer at the final green for 67 on the Osprey Creek course at Martin Downs Country Club.
McCarthy earned $1,000 from the $8,235 purse, raising his career earnings to $129,685 since October, 2007. He collected an additional $348 in an optional bonus pool.
Tied for second at three under par 68 among 61 starters were Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge, FL and Sunny Kim of Queens, NY. Lytle had five birdies and two bogeys, Kim three birdies and no bogies.
With Lytle and Kim watching on and hoping for a three man playoff, McCarthy rolled in this 6 foot birdie putt (pictured below) on the final hole for the win.
Next week the MLGT plays Monday at Parkland Country Club in North Broward, Wednesday at Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, and Ironhorse Country Club in West Palm Beach.
