PARKLAND, Fla. – Andy Winings of Fisher, IN, lived up to his name Monday, earning his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour by firing a four under par 68 at Parkland Golf Club. Winings made seven birdies to overcome a double bogey at the par-4 sixth hole and a bogey at the par-5 13th.
It was Winings’ third MLGT start since Jan. 21, He received $1,000 from the $5,400 purse, an additional $321 in an optional bonus pool and $133.34 in the skins game for a total of $1,454.34.
Winings is a Web.com Tour player looking to earn a spot on golf's biggest stage next year. Andy finished 2nd in the 2015 Air Capital Classic presented by Aetna on the Web.com Tour.
There were four players tied at 69 among the remaining 39 starters, including Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach, a former PGA Tour player and now a regular on the Web.com Tour. Nathan Davis from Taunton, MA, Russell Budd from Toronto, Canada, and Brian Stuard from Jackson, MI. Like LeBrun, Stuard has spent time on the PGA Tour. He graduated from the Web.com tour in 2009 and has played on the PGA Tour since 2010.
