PALM CITY, Fla. – Jeff Bronkema of Plainwell, MI, birdied five of his last eight holes Wednesday to pull out his fourth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. He finished with a four under par 68 at Hammock Creek Golf Club to edge Peter Skirpstas of Medina, OH, by a single shot.
After scoring two birdies and a pair of bogeys on the front nine, Bronkema, 27, birdied the 11th hole, bogeyed the 12th, then birdied Nos. 13, 14, 16 and 17. He received $800 from the $4,030 purse, raising his career earnings to $15,369 since Dec. 5, 2011.
Second among 31 starters, Skirpstas, 28, had his best finish in nine starts with the MLGT since December, 2014. He had five birdies and two bogeys, collecting $600.
Alone in 3rd was Brandon Smith of West Palm Beach, FL after a round of 70 that included 3 birdies and 1 bogey.
The MLGT returns to action Thursday at Ironhorse CC in West Palm Beach, its 20th tournament of the year.
