PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, birdied his last two holes and three of his final four Monday to pull out a one-stroke victory on the Minor League Golf Tour on the Estate course at PGA National.
Kim edged Jonathan Garrick of Atherton, CA, 66 to 67, for his 43rd victory since joining the MLGT in October, 2006. Before he birdied the 15th, 17th and 18th holes, Kim had five birdies, a bogey and a double bogey on the front. Garrick did not make a bogey. He birdied Nos. 2, 3, 7 and 18.
Kim collected $925, Garrick $625, from the $5,500 purse. In addition, Kim received $348 from an optional bonus pool for $1,298 on the day and a career total of $190,541. Garrick, who won three of his first five starts last November, collected $891, including $266 from the bonus pool.
The 26th tournament of the year drew 47 entries. Two more 18-hole tournaments are scheduled this week, Tuesday at Abacoa GC, Jupiter, and Thursday at Martin Downs CC, Palm City.
