JUPITER, Fla. – A bogey on the final hole was not costly Tuesday as Bo Hoag of Columbus, OH, won for the eighth time on the Minor League Golf Tour after posting a seven under par 65 at Abacoa Golf Club. It was his fifth MLGT victory this year.
Hoag, a former Ohio State University All-American golfer, had four birdies on each nine, at Nos. 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 15 and 16, before his only error of the day at the par-4 18th. He earned $1,000 from the $7,812 purse and an additional $230 from an optional bonus pool, raising his career earnings to $39,423 since he joined the Stuart-based mini-tour one week shy of six years ago.
Tied for second at 68 among 61 starters were Nick Latimer of Brooklyn, OH, and Jamie Sindelar of Horseheads, NY, each with six birdies and two bogeys, and Eric Cole of Orlando, who had six birdies and a double bogey at 18. Latimer and Sindelar made birdie and bogey, respectively, at the par-4 18th. The trio received $600 apiece from the purse.
9 players chose to enter the optional $150 3-event cumulative stroke play bonus pool. The player with the lowest cumulative score for the three one day events this week will win the bonus pool. the top 33% and ties will earn their share of the bonus pool as well.
