JUPITER, Fla. – Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach sank a 45-foot birdie putt from the left fringe on the first playoff hole Tuesday at Abacoa Golf Club to claim his 66th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour, his second in the past week. LeBrun edged Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, after they had tied at five under par 67. Moments after LeBrun made his birdie, Kim missed a 35 footer that would have extended the playoff.
In regulation, LeBrun was error-free with birdies at Nos. 2, 5, 10, 13 and 17. He received $600 from the $2,550 purse, $183 from an optional bonus pool and $36.67 from the skins game for a day’s total of $819.67, raising his career total to $186,086 since September, 2007. Kim made seven birdies and two bogeys, raising his career earnings to $220,641 since he joined the MLGT in October, 2006.
The MLGT’s 54th tournament of the year drew 21 starters. The next event on the schedule will be played Thursday on the Estate course at PGA National.
