JUPITER, Fla. – Justin Hicks of Wellington, FL fired rounds of 69-65 to win 2018 Qualifying School Contest #5 at Jupiter Country Club.

Hicks started the final round two shots off the overnight lead held by Nicolas Cavero and John Gerber. After an eagle and two birdies on his front nine, Hicks was -7 for the contest after 27 holes and tied with Cavero and one ahead of Gerber. Hicks, playing two groups ahead of Cavero and Gerber, hit a great long iron on the 218 yard par-3 17th hole to 12 feet. He rolled in the putt to get to -10 and parred the final hole to post 134. Cavero hit a great 3 wood on the par-5 16th hole to 14 feet to give himself an eagle try to get to -10. He came up just short, tapped in for birdie to get to -9 and would par the final two holes. Gerber birdied 16 and 18 to get to -9 but came up just short of Hicks.

23 players participated in the Qualifying School Contest which created a prize pool of $4,600. After Hicks's $4,500 first place check, $100 was to go towards the 2nd place finishers Q-School entry fee. Nicolas Cavero and John Gerber tied for 2nd at 135 and decided to split the money and will each receive $50 to put towards their Q-School entry fee.
