JUPITER, Fla. – Jamie Sindelar of Horseheads, NY, birdied the par-3 second hole at Jupiter Country Club on his first and fifth tries Thursday for his 19th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Sindelar outlasted Eric Dietrich of Cheshire, CT, after they tied at six under par 66 in regulation play, each making six birdies.
The first time around, Sindelar birdied the 129-yard second hole and Dietrich parred. In the playoff later, they halved the first hole with par-4's. Then in an effort to beat oncoming darkness, Sindelar and Dietrich repeatedly played the short second hole, matching pars on the first three tries. The fourth time, Sindelar hit his tee ball to within six inches and watched as Dietrich missed his birdie bid from 15 feet.
Sindelar received $1,000 from the $7,525 purse and additional $211.50 from an optional bonus pool, raising his career earnings to $96,057. Dietrich collected $700 from the purse and $211.50 in bonus pool money. He has one MLGT victory since September, 2017.
Monday's winner, Siyan Liu, made a hole in one on the 129 par-3 2nd hole with a 50 degree wedge.
MLGT resumes with three one-day tournaments next week: Monday, Hammock Creek GC, Palm City; Tuesday, Jacaranda GC, Plantation; and Friday, Martin Downs CC, Palm City.
