PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Jon Curran of Jupiter, FL birdied the second extra hole Monday to win a playoff between local veterans of the Minor League Golf Tour. Curran outlasted Justin Peters of Stuart, FL after they tied at five under par 66 on the Estate course at PGA National.
In the playoff, they halved the first hole with par-4's. Both reached the green in two at the par-4 second. Peters faced a 30-foot birdie putt, hit it then marked his ball within tap-in range but could only watch as Curran sank his 10 footer for the win.

It was Curran’s 10th victory since he joined the MLGT in September, 2012. He received $1,025 from the $6,305 purse and an additional $175 from an optional bonus pool, raising his career earnings to $33,846. He made seven birdies and two bogeys in regulation.
Prior to Monday’s tournament, Peters had 42 wins and $144,175 in official earnings since he joined the MLGT in September, 2006. Though he has not won since December, 2017, he opened Monday’s round with five straight birdies, finishing the day with seven birdies and two bogeys. He received $700 from the main purse, $175 from the bonus pool and $76 in a skins game for a total of $951. Peters won the innagural Big Break show on the Golf Channel in October 2003, at The TreeTops Resort in Gaylord, MI.
The 12th tournament of the MLGT’s 17th season drew 48 starters. The fifth annual Sunshine State Classic follows Wednesday through Friday on the South course at Fountains Country Club.
