PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Nick Latimer of Cleveland, OH, made four birdies on each nine Monday enroute to his 16th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Latimer edged Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, 64-65, on the Palmer course at PGA National. The MLGT’s all-time leading money winner, Kim bogeyed the 18th hole.
Latimer, whose Florida home is in nearby Singer Island, birdied Nos. 3, 4, 6 and 9 to turn in 32, then the 10th, 12th, 16 and 17th holes on the back nine. He received $700 from the $2,600 purse which pushed his earnings this year to $12,570, sixth on the current money list. He has earned $61,641 since joining the MLGT in November, 2009.
Prior to his tough finish, Kim had birdied Nos. 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 17, receiving $500 for the day, He leads both the career and this year’s money with $289,245 and $20,630, respectively, and has 73 career wins.
Today's event was the first of three 1-day that make up Monday Qualifier Contest #4. The professional with the lowest cumulative three day score will win a $1k bonus to compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
