WELLINGTON, Fla. – Minor League Golf Tour history was repeated Thursday when Nick Latimer of Cleveland , OH, edged Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, by one stroke, 68 to 69, at Wellington National Golf Club. Eleven days earlier, Aug. 3 on the Palmer course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Latimer also edged Kim by a shot, 64 to 65.
Latimer made six birdies and a double bogey at the par-3 third hole Thursday compared to five birdies and two bogeys for Kim. Latimer received $750, Kim $520, from the $3,130 purse. Latimer collected an additional $214 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $964.
It was Latimer’s 16th win since he joined the MLGT in November, 2009.
Next on the schedule is Qualifying School Contest #3 on the Champ course at PGA National Monday and Tuesday where the winner of the contest will earn a $5k bonus to compete in 2021 Q-School.
