PLANTATION, Fla. – Chris Wiatr of Woodbury, CT, overcame a double bogey on the 15th hole with an eight-foot birdie putt on the 19th Monday to score his third victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Wiatr outlasted Diego Velasquez of Bogata, Colombia after they tied at four under par 67 on the East course at Jacaranda Golf Club.
In the playoff, Velasquez two-putted for par-4 from 25 feet at the first hole before Wiatr sank his eight footer for the win. In regulation, Wiatr had six birdies in addition to the double. Velasquez made five birdies and a bogey. He was making his eighth MLGT start since Sept. 20 and is still looking for his first win. Wiatr earned $950, Velasquez $625, from the $4,950 purse.

The MLGT’s 129th tournament of the year drew 40 starters. The Stuart-based mini-tour plays Tuesday at St. Lucie Trail GC in Port St. Lucie before taking the rest of the week off for the Thanksgiving holiday.
