JUPITER, Fla. – Matt Hill of Palm Beach Gardens, FL shook off back-to-back bogeys midway through the round Tuesday to earn his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour in six years. At four under par 67 at Abacoa Golf Club, Hill won by shot over a handful of players who tied for second at 68.
After a pair of early birdies, Hill bogeyed the ninth and 10th holes, then birdied Nos. 12, 13, 17 and 18. It was his third MLGT victory, the two previous wins both coming in 2014. He collected $760 from the $3,720 purse and another $232 from an optional bonus pool, raising his career earnings to $37,601 since he joined the MLGT in February, 2011.
Today's event was the 2nd of three 1-day events that make up Monday Qualifier Contest #4. The professional with the lowest cumulative three day score will win a $1k bonus to compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour. Sunny Kim will enter the final event with a one shot lead over Monday's winner Nick Latimer and today's winner Matt Hill.
