PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palmer Jackson from Murrysville, PA authored one of the most dramatic finishes in MLGT history Thursday to win the Palm Beach County Open presented by Tremont. Jackson and Grant Haefner battled all day and came to the last hole tied for the lead and two clear of the field. They both had good looks at birdie. Haefner was first to putt from 15 feet and left it just short right on line. That left Jackson 12 feet for birdie and the win. He hit a good putt and watched it hang on the lip on the high side. The strong winds were gusting in the direction from behind the ball towards the hole. Jackson took a “reasonable amount of time” to walk up to the hole and waited to see if it would drop. After watching it for what felt like an eternity the ball fell in the hole and everyone was wondering the same thing...did it fall in before the 10 seconds allowed by the rules of golf from when he got to the hole. After reviewing the video it was determined that the fall fell in after 7.3 seconds so Jackson was declared the winner. This was Jackson's third win as a professional but first on the MLGT. He earned $8,000 from the $45,055 purse plus $469 from the bonus pool for a total of $8,469. Haefner earned $4,438 for the 2nd place finish. He has 4 wins on the MLGT including a Q-School contest earlier this year.

This event showcased three of the top Palm Beach County owned golf courses this week. Round one was held at Park Ridge GC, round two at Okeeheelee GC and round three at Osprey Point GC.

PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palmer Jackson from Murrysville, PA and Max Green from Bluffton, SC matched 8-under par 64's at Park Ridge GC to share the opening round lead of the Palm Beach County Open presented by Tremont.
Owen Stamper, Nicklas Staub, Brandon Berry and Chris Francoeur are one back after opening with 65. Day two heads to the Eagle/Heron course at Okeeheelee GC.
The top 40% (32 plus ties) will make the 36 hole cut and play Thursday's final round. After day one 36 players are at -3 or better.
