PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Riley Goss of Toronto, Ontario, making his fifth start on the Minor League Golf Tour, birdied six of his first eight holes Thursday and held on for his first victory. At seven under par 65, Goss won by two shots at St. Lucie Trail Golf Club. Goss outlasted Roland Massimino of Lumberville, PA, grandson of the legendary college basketball coach, the late Rollie Massimino. The younger Pennsylvanian did not make bogey enroute to a 67. Goss finished with eight birdies and a bogey, Massimino an eagle and three birdies. The winner received $900 from the $4,610 purse and another $92 in the skins game. Massimino totaled $832, including $600 from the main purse and $232 from the bonus pool.
Monday Qualifier Contest #2 presented by Abacoa Golf Club starts Tuesday at Melreese CC. It continues Wednesday at The Links at Madison Green and finishes Thursday at Eagle Trace GC. The low profesisonal for the three 1-day events will win a $1k bonus to go compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
